Purple Onion Deli & Grill
The other week my buddy Jared and I decided to try something new for lunch… We landed on the Purple Onion.
First off… This place is awesome! Here are my observations:
#1. The place is always packed… the entire time we were there, there was not a table open for more than a minute… thats always a good sign.
#2. If a place is only open for one meal 6 days a week they’ve gotta be doing something right.
#3. Tatter tots. Enough said.
Over all it was a great time… and the food was delicious! If you’re ever downtown in Lakeland at lunch time definitely stop by and grab a sandwich (I’ve heard their burgers are ridiculous too!)
Every year the Lakeland Christmas parade of chairs is viewed by thousands.
Ok. Truth is, this crazy town lets people set up chairs 24 hours before the parade.
Because the Christmas Parade is the BEST!!!! I love this city and the Lakeland Christmas Parade is hands down the best thing in the world!
This is our first post from a fellow Lakelander! We’re super excited about it! and can’t wait to hear from you soon! Thanks Stephen!
If you’re a fan of good produce at ridiculously cheap prices, Hand’s Produce is the fruit and vegetable authority. Located at 802 North Combee Road, Lakeland, FL, Hand’s is a small, easily missed store that’s worth a stop. We get all our vegetables there, sometimes without even spending double digits. Their vegetables taste the best over any other grocery store and they have quite a variety.
My personal favorite is the already-cut vegetable kabob mix they make for my wife (who they know by name). Red onion, pepper, corn, squash and zuccini that we skewer and grill. They’re basically awesome.
If you eat any vegetables (which is generally a good idea) stop by Hand’s, you won’t regret it.
Primo’s II Pizzeria
This is me (mike) and a lady named Vicky. Vicky and her husband Sal own Primo’s II in Lakeland. And they gave me one of the best eating experiences I’ve ever had in Lakeland.
The thing is… it wasn’t only the food that was good (and trust me it was!) The thing I loved about Primo’s II was Vicky. She was genuinely one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met… I came to Primo’s after having a bad run in with another restaurant and she turned my whole day around! She’s one of those people who you can tell loves what she does and it is contagious!
Normally I just order pizza at a pizza place… but that night I was feeling crazy and ordered off the menu… Good Life Choice. and OH Yeah… they wanted me to try the pizza… so try the pizza I did! It was amazing! I’d recommend it to anyone trying to change up their pizza options!
Personal recommendation: Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza and Stuffed Shells (2 new favorites)
OH YEAH! This is my favorite thing at Jimbo’s… I know it’s dumb, but it makes me laugh every time!
It’s the little things.
Jimbo’s Pit BBQ
Jimbo’s has been around for longer than I’ve been alive! and in the last year has grown to be one of my favorite local places to eat!
The pulled pork sandwiches are the best! I can never quit eating the Hushpuppies! And you can’t beat homemade pickles at every table… they are the best!
I think the thing that really makes it special are the people who work there… a lot of servers are disconnected from where they work… but the people who work at Jimbo’s really love and believe in the restaurant!
Try it for yourself!

This is our city! Let’s explore the heck out of it!
Its time to quit taking every day for granted!
Life is so much more fun when you’re on an adventure.
So today. right here. right now. It is time to live an adventure.
It’s good to just take some down time every now and again… That said today is that day and now is that time… Today we are taking some time to ourselves and enjoying a little break in the shade at Barnett Park. It is a perfect day and a fantastic time to sit in the shade and enjoy… Well I guess enjoy nothing… Nothing but everything! It’s great to slow down and breath for a second!
Do yourself a favor… Slow down and breath today!
